About This product

DIRT Series, In-boot, off-road, lightweight, flexible riding pants

Meet the Peninsula. A purpose-built pair of active fit pants for riders who prefer to wear their gear tucked inside their boots instead of over them – as part of our DIRT Series collection.

The CE-certified pants are constructed of highly abrasion-resistant Cordura® ripstop fabric combined with PWR|Shell ripstop stretch on the inside legs, lower legs, and upper knees. This allows for maximum movement and comfort.

Our flexible, lightweight, and removable SEESMART™ CE-level 1 protectors are featured at the hips and knees. And when the SEESMART™ armour is removed from the knees, the pants can be worn over our CE-level 2 Scram knee protectors. The Peninsula is also patterned to accommodate aftermarket knee braces underneath.

Soft leather panels on the lower inside legs provide extra grip when standing on the motorcycle while optimal fit is ensured by the ratchet waist closure while the silicon waistband will keep the pants from sliding down.

In warmer temperatures, the long ventilation zippers can be zipped open to cool down the rider. And in terms of keeping your essentials close by, storage is provided by cargo pockets at the upper legs.

Great in the boot pant for warm weather

I got these on sale and wore them for a six-week adventure from the bottom of Tasmania to Cape York and back.
I wore them with Scram knee protectors, a base layer and Patagonia Torrentshell rain pants over the top when it was heavy rain. They fit well (XL - I'm 172cm and 105 kilos - size 38 jeans) and had plenty of flexibility for movement on and off the bike.
Pro's - Great in hot weather, good ventilation, reasonable protection (I had a few offs from slow tipovers to a decent stack at 50kmh in the dirt) and held up in all kinds of weather at all kinds of speeds. They didn't flap around or cause any issues. They're not waterproof but that's what layering is for. 14,000 km and no real wear or tear that I can see, and didn't leave any marks on the bike from the knees.
Cons - The only real down side was the knee armour pocket.
When using the Scram protectors (or knee braces or whatever) there's no problem, however on the return journey we did a lot less dirt so I wanted to put in my level 2 knee/elbow armour from my Sand 4 pants. They don't fit. You either have level one seeflex which isn't really in the right place if you fall somewhat on the side of your knee or you have to wear separate armour.
The only other issue isn't really a problem. When I was off the bike i'd lose my phone down the massive leg pockets. This was okay until I realised when back on the bike - and with your legs bent it's hard to reach in to retrieve it.

Overall - very good and no reason to upgrade although the stretchier Surface pants may be worth a look.

Good, but could be better

I offer the following comments as suggested improvements for the Peninsula pants.
I am 182cm (6ft), 77kg (170lb), waist 82cm (33 inch) with inseam 85cm (34inch). Basically European average leaning towards tall and slim. Some of my comments may seem harsh and picky, but I consider these a premium pant that should meet a high standard.
What I liked:
- Quality material and tailoring. Good balance between weight and durability. Feels tougher than typical MX pants, and not as heavy as some of the other premium brands. Ideal for dirt riding. That said, I’d pick a different type of pant (or brand) to take a slide on the tarmac.
- There is enough room in the leg for my Leatt C-Frame or Pod K4 knee braces (obviously with the knee armour removed).
Not so much:
I have various Revit products, which I really like. One of the main attractors for me was the hip and knee armour (which I’d insert when I don’t wear knee braces). This was also the biggest disappointment.
- The hip armour could be broader. I accept people are built differently, but in my case the hip armour does not cover my hip bone, which is a big fail considering this was the reason I chose the Revit pants over another brand.
- The knee patch (material) is in the right spot, but the knee armour is too high, and it isn’t adjustable. I may just have extraordinary long thighs but the indent in the knee armour is about two inches above my patella.
- The waist should allow more adjustability. I’m slim but not emaciated and had to use the tightest setting. Even so, as soon as I bent or crouched I’d have ‘plumber’s crack’. A more robust webbing or belt-type arrangement would help, as would a broader stretch panel in the back. The back stretch panel should spread further towards the hips. It is too narrow and doesn’t serve its intended purpose. It becomes even more noticeable with knee braces that put tension on the thigh area and would pull the pants down, dropping the crutch slightly and making mounting the bike a bit difficult. I think this is mainly because the pants are too loose around the middle. (I did also try a medium size, but could hardly get them on.)
- The pockets are a nice size, but the opening is too restrictive. I found it difficult to retrieve items from the pockets.
- A very annoying niggle, but the fabric behind the zipper constantly got stuck in zipper. A slightly thicker fabric might be less inclined to get caught in the zipper.

My initial excitement about the pants blinded me to these issues, and in hindsight I should have returned them. Having now worn them a few times I am a bit underwhelmed, and hope the next iteration of the pants address these issues. I did consider ordering the long version in the hope that the thigh area would be longer. However, the three-month wait period, inability to return a special order should they not fit, and the other matters listed above dissuaded me.

Comfortable gear

Got this as a light form of protecting gear for a mix of road and off road. They are lighter that other road pants but still feel the material and included protections are good enough for the road. I found it tricky to find the right size so you may want to get a couple to try.

I would like that the pants also had an elastic at the ankle level as they feel a bit loose there. Although inside a boot, that doesn't matter.
